Dear Dan:
Last summer I met with (several pool companies) to do a complete backyard makeover and redesign the 1978 Anthony Pools kidney shaped pool and spa,
the fifth and final piece of a total property renovation. After adding a second floor and an outdoor living room in 2005, the pool entry was too close to the house.
The pool was not in keeping with our remodeled home, it was too big for the yard, and there was too much concrete and not enough planting space. Frankly, it was an eyesore.
I had a specific vision: soothing, marine blue colored water, a water wall spanning the length of the back pool wall with a large planter behind it and along the front side of the pool, too.
And I was adamant about absolutely no concrete. Instead I wanted DG paths, stepping stones with groundcover and drought tolerant plants.
Several months into the process I was not altogether happy with the proposals: there was still too much pool for the backyard, not enough planting space, and every design but yours had
concrete decking or the equivalent.
After going back and forth for a couple of months, you said, "Cameron, it sounds like you want a lap pool with clean, classic lines—why don't you just take out the old pool and start over—it won't cost that much more."
We've learned more than a few things about construction projects over the years, among the most important: trust your instinct and don't skimp on materials. We decided to hire you to scrap the
old pool and landscape and start with a clean palette. And we couldn't be happier.
It was so refreshing to work with someone who not only understood my vision, but who went to extreme lengths to help me achieve it. You were a professional at every turn, coordinating
the pool construction with the landscape project, accompanying me to stone yards to select ledger stone we used for the water wall and raised spa, and the beautiful tumbled limestone coping.
I especially appreciate the time and expense working with Polaris on the custom made nozzle to give me the most flexibility with the water wall. Travis and Dan were a pleasure to work with
and the stonemasons were outstanding. Most contractors don't understand a crucial aspect of construction: managing the homeowners' expectations. You were the exception. By updating us
throughout the process with frequent (sometimes daily) e-mails and phone calls, you removed worry and uncertainty from the equation. We always knew what was happening, what to expect,
and if there were delays, why. If this is but an example of the service your clients can expect, I have no doubt Distinguished Pools will truly distinguish itself from others in the field.
Our beautiful saltwater pool with its stunning, sonorous water wall is truly the crown jewel of our property. We can't thank you enough.

Hi Dan-
I thought I'd send you some comparison shots of the pool. We were sad to
have to change tile when it was discovered that they were deteriorating but
we find we like this tile just as much. It certainly has updated the look
of the pool. Your advice about choosing a tile that would blend with the
natural surroundings was very helpful. We are delighted with the results!
You and your crew have accomplished a wonderful transformation. What a
relief to have a team work on the pool who knows what they're doing! Well,
I just wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for the professional
job done by everyone involved. And, thank you for your patience with our
questions and concerns and for your vigilance in overseeing the project
every step of the way from demolition to completion.

Our experience with Jimi Jackson at Distinguished Pools was an absolute pleasure. This was the first time that my husband and I had built a pool, and Jimi was very informative, yet respectful of our need to review everything before committing to such a big investment. He was always courteous and helpful without being pushy. Throughout the entire process, Jimi was reliable and always followed up with everything that he had promised. He was responsive to all of our questions and would go out of his way to contact us and make sure that we were pleased with the pool’s progress. Even after the pool was constructed, he made sure that we were comfortable with all of the new things that we needed to learn about its upkeep and maintenance. Whenever we had a concern, he acted immediately to correct the problem, and this was done with a positive attitude. In my experience, it is rare to meet someone with such integrity in a sales environment. Jimi has earned our confidence and trust, and we would certainly seek him out if ever we were going to build another pool. But considering how beautiful the one is that we currently have, I hope we don’t ever have to move.

Our experience with Distinguished Pools was outstanding! We love how professional they were throughtout the whole process. This experience has truly been stress free. We had heard that building a pool was such a hassle, but Distinguished Pools has proved that completely wrong. Each phase went so smoothly because the project manager was here every day checking on the crews and making sure everything was done correctly. We were one of the many families abandoned when 20-year-old Hallmark Pools
discarded its fine reputation to declare bankruptcy. All we had to show for our
considerable investment was a gaping hole of gunnite surrounded by piles of
project debris. And there we were, six weeks before Thanksgiving and expecting
a houseful of guests.
As we tried to regroup and get bids we couldn't afford, we met Dan Ramos of
Distinguished Pools. When he offered to bring together experienced teams to
complete our pool with little or no markup, we, of course, thought he was too
good to be true.
Still skeptical, we interviewed the teams he recommended and asked each one how
it could do the job well at so little cost--and in timely fashion. To a man,
they said, "Because Dan asked me to. He's just that kind of guy."
Well, we hired Dan's teams, and Distinguished Pools installed the equipment, and
we have a finished pool two and half weeks before Thanksgiving! One of Dan's
teams even removed Hallmark's trash at no cost. Dan just seems to inspire
people to do good things for others.
My husband and I are convinced our pool turned out even better than if Hallmark
had finished it. It is breathtakingly beautiful.
We hear from others (and Dan would never say such things) that Dan has even paid
out of his own pocket to complete pools for some of the owners hit by the
bankruptcy. It wouldn't surprise us if that were true even for us.
We would recommend Dan Ramos and Distinguished Pools to anyone who wants to
build or remodel a pool or wants to deal with a savvy, moral businessman. It is
rare today to find a man of such high character.
