A 2004 NSPI San Diego Design Awards winner, water feature

The homeowners originally wanted to add a spa and update the look of the pool to reflect their recent home remodel. Working very closely with them, we were able to design and build a courtyard to match their beautifully redone home. The spa addition echoes the radius of the shallow end. For easy entry into the pool at the deep end, a mediterranean beach step was added below the spa. A large baja step was added to the shallow end. Multiple deck jets were placed to both sides of the pool and spa, and a telescopic fountain was installed in the spa to recreate the vision of a Mediterranean water garden. An extra wide spill was created to give dramatic water flow from the spa to the pool. The pool and spa were finished in Arctic White Pebble Sheen with crushed abalone shells to add sparkle. The deck was finished with Italian tile pavers.

Bisazza tile was used extensively on the raised spa and waterline tile. We incorporated an extra wide waterline tile to showcase the beautiful Bisazza. Seastone and fossilstone coping was used around the pool and spa and in the water feature wall behind the pool. A floral mosaic from Bisazza decorates the bottom of the pool, and a smaller version accents the spa floor. Our client designed the custom mosaic that adorns the water feature wall behind the spa. Bisazza was able to take her rendering and turn it into a glass tile masterpiece.

The clients required a safety feature to limit access to the pool, but wanted to avoid the obtrusive appearance and inconvenience of a fence or cover. We incorporated an auto cover with a custom designed bridge built to maintain the radiused end. When retracted, it is completely hidden.

New equipment included a Sta-Rite filter and cleaner, Pentair pumps and SAm color-changing lights, a RayPac heater, AquaLink control system, ECOmatic salt system, and auto cover by Poolsafe.
